![]() Blue Man Group - New Home and Updated ShowPublished 4/4/2006
They are perhaps best known for their successful theatrical productions which combine comedy, music and multi-media artistry to create a form of entertainment that is totally unique. Most recently, Blue Man Group has brought an updated version of their show to a state-of-the–art theatre at The Venetian® Resort Hotel Casino. From the Las Vegas Review Journal: There's always enough new hardware to keep a Blue Man confused and curious. Even five years make difference. When "Blue Man Group: Live at Luxor" opened in February 2000, most people couldn't look at the bald, blue guys on a cell phone screen or listen to their PVC-pipe drumming on iPods. But the Blue Man Group has always been about the need to spit marshmallows in the face of ever-changing technology. Just because the wildly popular troupe scored itself the ultimate Vegas status symbol — a custom- designed theater — don't expect the creators to get too carried away with it. "We don't want to be just throwing spectacle at people," says Chris Wink, one of the three co-founders of the New York-based production. "What sets us apart is this character. We're not trying to compete machine for machine with Cirque du Soleil." |
Hairspray Has Come and Gone in Vegas
The hit broadway show Hairspray is on tour and has landed in Las Vegas. Winner of 8 Tony awards in 2003, this amazing adaptation of the 1988 film by John Waters features an original score written by Marc Shairnan. In Hairspray it's 1962- the 50's are out and change is in the air. Baltimore's Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, has only one passion - to dance. She wins a spot on the local TV dance program, "The Corny Collins Show" and overnight, is transformed from outsider to irrepressible teen celebrity.
But can a plus-size trendsetter in dance and fashion vanquish the program's reigning princess, win the heart of the heartthrob Link Larkin, and integrate a television show without denting her 'do? Only in Hairspray! Editor's Note: This show is ending on 6/11/2006. It was a great show and will be missed by all of the people who can't make it to broadway to see it. |
